Welcome

We’re all about bringing people together to enjoy some of life’s simple pleasures

Couples, friends and families can have a wonderful day out with us (whatever the Lancashire weather brings!)

On our open farm you can pat storybook farm animals, ride a horse and trap, pedal (size permitting!) a mini tractor, lark about in a straw play barn, race round the barn on the go-carts and picnic by the paddocks.

In our artisan village, you can meet talented crafts people, discover regional produce, savour home cooked fayre, and treat yourself to hand-selected gifts, plants and wines.

Enjoy it all!

What is happening at Greenlands in the next seven days

NEW! Toddler Terrific Wednesday and now Thursday too!
Good news for lovers of our PlayBarn. Our fun (and purse-friendly) play n’ dine offer for parents and toddlers is now available on Wednesday and Thursday. Children can play in our soft playbarn from 10am to 12noon for just £2.50, and help themselves to a free juice and bickies. Afterwards children can dine on a free child’s meal with every adult meal (excluding soup and side orders) over in Wellies Café. It’s a great midweek treat.

NEW! Mini Movers Classes
Here’s another reason to visit our PlayBarn – this time on a Monday. Every Monday our soft play now hosts an exciting and educational toddlers’ music and movement class. It starts at 1.15pm and is conducted by a fully trained up member of the nationwide Jo Jingles team. Bookings are essential. For more information call Chris on 07837 094575 or visit www.jojingles.com.

NEW! Lovely Little Lambs
Come and pat our freshly born pure Doresets, known for lambing at this time of year and appreciated for their lovely, pure white faces and fleece. Even better, do it for free – see below!

Still on: FREE Open Farm Entry
Hurrah! There is another two weeks to go on our special offer of free entry to everyone to our petting farm. So you and yours can meet and greet our friendly animals – including our new lambs – plus you can have fun in our straw play barn, pedal tractors and go-karts – all on us.

Chainsaw Carving Demos
Watch Rolande, local artist extraordinaire, use a chainsaw to turn logs into incredible carvings. Rolande tends to do her exciting demonstration from 11.30am to 4pm, Thursday to Sunday. To check exact times call Rolande on 07831 896541.

Morning Tea Monday
Now this is nice a way to start the week. On a Monday you will receive a complimentary scone, with jam and cream, when you buy any hot drink in Wellies Cafe between 10am and 12noon. Perfect.

Two for a Tenner Tuesday
If you’re free on a Tuesday, come to Wellies with a friend and the two of you can order two soups, two sandwiches and two cuppas for a total of, yes, £10.

Drop-in Pottery Sessions
Our resident ceramist Wyn Abbot is continuing to run regular drop-in have-a-go pottery sessions for children and adults at set times on Saturdays and Sundays. To find out the latest times in January call Wyn on 01524 784184.

Weekend Pottery Club
Wyn’s ever-popular weekend Pottery Club classes for children and young people has re-started. Only a few places remain, so if you have someone who is keen to join, please do call to book soon on 01524 784184. (And remember, while yours are enjoying some creative fun, you can treat yourself to a quiet coffee in our café).

Gardening Colour
Our on-site gardening centre now has a range of shrubs that are ideal for introducing some colour at this time of year. Pick and choose from the likes of Cornus, Mahonias, Helleborus, Red Robin and a variegated Red Robin. Expert advise, as ever, is always available if you are not quite sure what will work best in your outdoor space.

Food and Wine Offers
Our Farm Shop and our on-site wine shop are still offering some tempting post-Christmas deals. Pop in for some inspiration, exploration and a tasty sample or three.

  • Coming: Footy Fun for Little Ones

The PlayBarn, our soft play centre, is planning to host toddler football training classes.

The classes promise to help young boys and girls develop new skills and confidence. They will be run by a professionally trained member of the national chain, Little Kickers. Further details coming soon.

  • Just Announced: Drawing Competition

Jim, the manager of our soft play centre, has let it be know that he is creating a Spring-inspired colouring-in contest.

Children who visit the PlayBarn will be able to get creative with a picture of a rather hardworking tractor. Everyone’s effort will be displayed and the best one, judged by Farmer Roger on the day the clocks change, will win a session at the PlayBarn and a family day pass to the Open Farm. Yay!

  • New Year Update: Red Resigned to 2012 Resolution

Speaking of the Open Farm … our food-loving Shetland pony has had to start January with a diet – yes, another one.

Red, in all her post-Christmas-feasting fabulousness, is now back on a strict hay and water only regime. Do be sure to give a supportive pat when you see her …

  • Sweet Tweet Request Goes Out

Still on the theme of animals – this time the feathered variety; Julie and Craig, at our on-site garden centre, has urged everyone to remember the birds at this time of year.

“They need our help through these colder months”, says Julie. “We can help you to select the right seeds, nuts and feeders for your particular location.”

  • Sensational Bin End Sale Begins Soon

In other news, our on-site wine shop will be offering up to 50% off discontinued wines from the first weekend in February.

Reds and whites from both new and old World vineyards will all be available. And everything must go – as they say – by the end of the month. Come in to try something new at a great price.

  • Charity Drive Speeds Up

Finally, some more good news on the efforts of our PlayBarn Manager to raise money for an orphanage in Southern India that he is planning to visit next month.

Jim is confident that money raised by his fantastically fun dress-up-athon and his exceedingly tasty curry night will actually beat his target. Donations are of course still welcome – just visitng the JustGiving website to donate and review his progress.
