Our butcher expertly prepares a wide range of quality meat carefully sourced from local farms that breed happy animals. Favourites with regulars include our bacon, lamb burgers and pork sausages made to a secret recipe passed down from Farmer Roger’s family. Our butcher has created two new sausages recently - you can choose from pork, apple and Magners cider or pork, Lancashire sauce and homemade black pudding. They are really delicious! Weekly, and especially at Christmas, you can order from a fabulous selection of local turkeys, meats and cheeses.
Our regional cheese counter is a showcase of the sensational cheese making skills that flourish right across Cumbria, Lancashire and Yorkshire. We have everything from a fruity Wensleydale with cranberries, to a more traditional crumbly Lancashire cheddar, to a rather unusual, but very delicious, smooth and silky Lancashire blue - made with local ewes’ milk (it’s a personal favourite of Bryn, our cheese selector; yes, it is a tough job but someone has to do it!) Our friendly team will help you choose, even discover, something to please your own palate.
